The #proudmummymomentproject

Project logo

I’m birthing a project. Huzzah!

Now before you skedaddle off out the door because you think it’s all mushiness and gooey proud mummy stuff, let me fill you in.

I will admit, yes, there is some of that. The mushy, skyting stuff because let’s face it, it happens and it makes us happy and our eyes fill with tears. Heartwarming. Beautiful. Great. It’s fun to share this stuff.

But there are other not so show offy things that go on in my life that I’d also consider a proud mummy moment.

Let me show you my NOW

Quote

So before we get into this post let us discuss a few things.

First of all, this post has been inspired by the Daily Post prompt today (that’s twice this week – CRAZY) so that’s what it is all about. I am supposed to write entirely in the present tense so let’s hope I’ve achieved that and haven’t made a boo boo. I’m a linguist (or so my degree says) so it’s going to suck if I fuck it up.

Second, I’m no poet. The last time I wrote a poem was about 25 years ago and it was probably better than this but I’ve had a crack at it because as soon as I read the prompt I thought POEM and who I am to resist the creative urgings of my soul. So here it is. Be kind. I hope it makes you smile.  Continue reading

Wearing someone else’s shoes even when they give you blisters

Today I’m trying something NEW and participating in the Daily Post’s Weekly Writing Challenge. This week’s challenge is Leave your shoes at the door.

I could have used a little more of this pre baby

In my BC (before children) life I was what can only be described as a right little Miss Judgy McJudgy Pants.

If you didn’t know the difference between “your and you’re” and “there, their and they’re” I turned my my nose up in disgust.

Uneducated bogan I’d sniff. Continue reading

Road Runner: BEEP BEEP

Road runner image

This was me yesterday

This was me yesterday. Burning up a dust cloud behind me.

It was my first ever “official run” and it’s really not even THAT official, just officially timed but it was with a group of 57 other lovelies so it kind of felt like a proper competition run.

I rocked up at the venue (aka the park) and there were a bunch of other people standing around in shiny lycra Continue reading

I’m a little ray of sunshine with a SUNSHINE AWARD

Well would you look at that. I got an award. And not just any award but an award for being inspirational. How awesome is that?

I’ve been pretty shit at doing the award thing the last few months so if you are reading this and thinking “But you didn’t accept mine” please, don’t be offended. It’s a time thing and today, I happen to have it.

Here is my pretty trophy:

The award pic

Ta da!

It’s a gorgeous one that one.

To accept I must do the following:

1. Pass it on to 10 other inspiring bloggers

2. Tell you 11 facts about me, because you don’t know the ins and outs of my business already anyway

Here, my friends, are the FACTS.

Dr Joshi’s Holistic Detox

Dr Joshi's Book

Dr Joshi’s Book.

If you’d asked me 2 weeks ago if I was going to do a detox anytime soon I would have just looked at you kinda funny. I had no intentions of doing this! But you know, things happen.

It all started last week when I decided to do a dairy elimination. The whole idea of it makes me want to cry quite frankly because, well, cheese. But, I get eczema and it has been around on and off throughout my life. It was pretty much gone when I fell pregnant but has come back in full force since the birth of Monkey which is uber annoying. I kept thinking that sooner or later it would go away again but no such luck.

Lately, with the warmer weather especially, it is been quite aggravating. So I figured since I got rid of Monkey’s eczema by eliminating dairy then maybe I should put my money where my mouth is and have a crack at it myself. So that was last Monday. All good.  Continue reading

Reality. She’s a real know it all biatch don’t ya think?

Super mum pic

Today I am owning it.

So while I was tap tap tapping away, writing my Tuesday post about how I’m not a super single mum, good old Reality was gleefully rubbing her hands together in a Rumplestiltskinesque way and preparing me a nice warm dish of How do you like them apples baby?.

Yummmm.

Stewed” I said. “Nice and stewed”.

“My favourite”.

And she took me seriously.  Continue reading

I finished the sucker

Yup, that’s right folks. I finished the Couch 2 5k program. It only took me about 6 months instead of the suggested 9 weeks but WHO CARES?

My times are much slower now than they were pre my North America trip and the only thing I can put that down to is diet. BUT again I say, who cares? I finished it. I can now run for 30mins straight no problem and most times I do more than 5ks in 30 mins.

So what now? Continue reading
