About

Yo! So as my blog name suggests I am a mummy and I am doing it solo (through circumstance not choice – believe me I’d totally rather be shacked up with some dude that I’m in love with and who loves me back. That would be SO AWESOME). Anyway that’s not how things worked out. So I’m having this amazing experience on my own and I thought I could probably write a bit about that.  I’ve been reading a lot of mummy blogs since I had my bub and whilst many of them are awesome they all seem to involve a partner in crime; someone around that is sharing the load and the experience and that can make single mummy land feel a bit sad and lonely. Plus there are some different challenges that single mums face compared to their shacked up counterparts. Anyway we’ll explore all that and more in this blog.

Happy reading!

  1. When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get several e-mails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove people from that service? Many thanks!

    • Thank you so much!!! I hope you got my nomination for a super sweet blog award the other week too 🙂 I will get to this later this week. I have a busy week but will def follow all the rules. I think these awards are such a lovely part of the blogging community. Thanks again 🙂

  2. Hi MFS, Thank you so much for following my blog, not another slippery dip. I am so glad you have as now I have had the opportunity to check out your blog, which is really inspiring. I am going to recommend it to a couple of people that I know who are ‘flying solo’ themselves. You are amazing!!! Seriously, I am in awe. I just wrote this quote on my FB page last week: “Every time my hubby goes away for work, my respect for single parents SOARS”!!
Keep on writing, and keep inspiring. Great stuff 🙂

    • Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words MIchaela! I’m so pleased you enjoyed my blog. Yours is amazing! And you have so much writing published! If you ever want to share how you go about achieving that then I am all ears! I found you in the iBlog Friday roundup which I did as well this week. As for the whole single parent thing, I actually think it is much harder for mummies whose hubbies are away for work sometimes as you get to know what’s it’s like to have the help. I don’t have that luxury so I don’t know what I’m missing so I think that is almost easier. I am planning on writing a post about that one day. I think a big shout out needs to go to you guys! It’s harder for you. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and following me! 🙂

  3. Hello! I just happened upon your blog tonight, and am liking what I have read so far. Will be back for more! Since you are a Mommy Flying Solo, you might want to check out my best friend’s blog…..she is not a single Mom but she just published her first novel about a single Mom and wants to get some discussion going about single parenthood and dating. Anyhoo…if you want to check her out go to http://www.shannonraelynn.com

    • Oooo cool! Sounds rather relevant! I will def pop over and check it out. Thanks! Glad you are enjoying what you have seen here so far. I’m off to check out your blog too. Cheers!

  8. Dear MFS,

I have been following you for quite a while now & I think you’re a true inspiration to all moms out there; taken or single! I have decided to nominate you for a Liebster Award: http://anniemationfloe.wordpress.com/2013/11/11/liebster-award-honestly-transition-a-small-thank-you/
Congratulations! Whether you choose to accept this award is of course entirely up to you, but I felt you were at the very least deserving of the nomination.
    Kind regards,
    Annie

  9. Hello! I stumbled on your blog and love it! I have a two year old daughter, and I seriously am in awe of you and any mom that “flies solo” and does so with such humor and grace. I will be following your posts. 🙂

  11. Just came across your blog, love it! I have two little girls and my husband works away from us, though I’m not a full-time single mama…I am single parenting most of the time. I love being a parent but it sure is hard work when you are on your own.
    Hat’s off to you.

    • I often think of the mums who have hubbies who work away. I think you guys have it harder to be honest as there is always the adjustment when they come and go plus the pain of missing them. So hats off to you too mama! And thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
