My so not cool City2Surf Running Playlist

finish lineMy City2Surf playlist, which I put together on Spotify in the end, totally rocked it although I didn’t need the music a lot of the time. The course has bands ever km or so and there are literally people everywhere however it was pretty awesome at some key points along the way. I played the list on shuffle so had no idea what would come on when but someone somewhere in the universe was looking after me that day and rockin’ the perfect tracks at the perfect time.

My favs across the day were:

Total Eclipes of the Heart Dance Mix – halfway up Heartbreak Hill when I was fighting with myself to keep running this remix came on. It was by far the most frenetic of songs on my list so absolutely perfect for this point in the run.

Chariots of Fire –  yes I did actually put that on my playlist and it quite conveniently came on as I passed the 12km flag with a sprint down the hill into Bondi.

Eye of the Tiger – This was the final song for my run! It came on right as I was heading into the home stretch. Brilliant!

I have listened to this list so many times since and I absolutely love it. It gets me dancing every time and the association with such an awesome day just presses all my happy buttons.

If you want to hear more about how awesome it was to do that run then you need to go HERE.

I did a lot of research to choose the perfect songs for this playlist. I played loads of mixes created by other people and googled the shit out of it. I allowed songs that I would never dream of listening to into my world and as it turns out when it comes to running, pop is freaking great.

Essentially the final list is lots of cheese + songs I’m too cool to admit enjoying with a few indie tracks thrown in. You can listen to it in any order and it is awesome every time. Here it is.

  2. I think your playlist is totally cool. And way to go running and stuff. I’d run too, but heart attacks are common amongst fat ladies running in velour track suits. I’ll stick with lifting the remote.
